Who are La Plata County Suicide Prevention Collaborative leaders, members, and partners?
LPC SPC is a wide network of community members and organizations that contribute their unique experiences and expertise to preventing suicide. We currently have over 50 members representing 30+ organizations across the area. LPC SPC has representation from sectors including health care, behavioral health, public health, first responders, education, non-profit, faith, economic stability, and more. Our members and partners participate as they are able and have capacity, taking on roles as Steering Committee members, workgroup members, and thought partners. The LPC SPC Steering Committee is responsible for the strategic direction of the coalition while also ensuring progress is being made towards seeing results. The facilitators are the conveners of LPC SPC, supporting the structure and network of the coalition.
Amy Miglinas
Amy Miglinas partners with the La Plata County Suicide Prevention Collaborative to build a resilient, unified safety net for the region. With over 18 years of experience as a teacher, school counselor, and high school principal, Amy understands that true prevention requires systemic alignment between schools and the community. She specializes in suicide risk reduction, crisis recovery, and mental health integration, dedicating her career to moving beyond reactive measures to create proactive cultures of belonging and safety for all students.

Shannon Shropshire
Shannon (she/her) is the Population Health Planner with the La Plata County Public Health Department and previously the Assessment and Planning Supervisor with San Juan Basin Public Health. Much of her work revolves around the Community Health Assessment and Public Health Improvement Plan.
She supports many of the programs at the health department with data. She has a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Master of Public Health. She has experience in both qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
Shannon has participated in the La Plata County Suicide Prevention Collaborative in one way or another since its inception and regularly presents updated data to the team.
When off work, Shannon enjoys spending time with her three dogs, hanging out with her partner and friends, going to baseball games, and traveling around to see live music.
